Prayer of the day for Friday, June 26, 2026, entitled: “The Hand That Touches the Outcast”

Praise be to Jesus Christ. Today’s passage shows us the Lord coming down from the mountain. He does not flee from our miseries; He seeks them out to heal them. A leper breaks every barrier and kneels before Him. This liturgy invites us to rediscover the bold trust that attracts God’s gaze and His healing caress.

Lord Jesus, You are not afraid of my deepest wounds.
You see my spiritual isolation.
Listen to my sincere cry.

If You wish, You can make me clean.
I know Your immense compassion.
I recognize Your divine power.

Stretch out Your hand toward me today.
Touch my heart hardened by sin.
Erase my inner shame.

I want to walk in Your truth.
Renew my daily witness of faith.
Make me docile to Your holy teachings.

Let me experience the joy of Your forgiveness.
Keep me united with Your Church.

Amen.

EXPLANATION

Jesus heals a leper, performing a revolutionary gesture for His time: He touches him. According to Mosaic Law, this would have made Him unclean. Christ, however, reverses the situation. His holiness is not contaminated by evil; rather, His purity infects and heals the sick man. The Lord then requests compliance with priestly regulations. This demonstrates perfect continuity with the Law, elevated by love. Jesus does not destroy the ecclesial and social order, but reintegrates it starting from the human heart renewed by divine grace.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  1. Approach the Sacrament of Confession to heal the leprosy of sin.
  2. Avoid any form of gossip that isolates or marginalizes brothers and sisters in your community.
  3. Find five minutes of silence today to present your greatest wound to Jesus.
  4. Perform a concrete act of closeness toward someone who is lonely or forgotten by everyone.
  5. Thank the Lord for the guidance of priests and respect the directions of the Church.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. What is the spiritual or emotional “leprosy” that makes me feel unworthy of God’s love?
  2. Do I have the same faith as the leper to say to Jesus: “If you wish, you can make me clean”?
  3. Do I tend to run away from those who suffer, or do I try to bring Christ’s comforting touch?
  4. Do I accept the authority of the Church and its sacraments as instruments of true healing?
  5. How often do I thank the Lord for lifting me up and forgiving me in dark times?
